Walked into a little cafe today. It started to rain as soon as I entered. It stopped as soon as I wanted to leave. Things like that keep happening here. Hoi An is an embarrassment of serendipity. The universe is spoiling me with little gifts only I would understand.
One entire wall of Rosie’s Cafe was open to the outside, so it started raining inside, but no one got wet and it added to the beauty of it all. And yes, of course, I can find meaning in that.
Craving American food. Ordered avocado toast.
Saw a woman in the back, sitting alone, looked American, and thought she looked cool. Short blond hair, little tank and cut-off shorts, low maintenance, on a laptop, smiling to herself and she drank her coffee in a rainy cafe.
And I realized she looked like me, and it was cool to see myself, my life, like that. Another gift only I would understand.
I sat down in my little tank and cut-off shorts, opened up my laptop and started writing.
And my first thought was
